NIGERIAN DRIVERS CHALLENGE — PRIVACY NOTICE

This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, store, and share personal data when you use the Nigerian Drivers Challenge websites, applicant portal, and related services. We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and applicable regulations.
1. WHO WE ARE
The Challenge organisers are the data controller for registration, examination, ranking, and related administration. Contact details for privacy requests are published on the Challenge website help or privacy channels.
2. DATA WE COLLECT
Depending on your use of the service, we may process:
• Identity and contact data (name, email, phone, date of birth, address, state)
• Registration and account data (registration number, application status, credentials metadata)
• Licence and supporting document images/files and extracted verification fields
• Examination data (assignments, answers, scores, timing, device/preflight signals)
• Proctoring and integrity data (events, flags, review notes, where enabled)
• Payment and certificate data where those features apply
• Technical logs (IP address, user agent, security and access events)
• Support correspondence you send to us
3. WHY WE USE YOUR DATA
We process personal data to:
• Create and manage your account and Challenge edition enrolment
• Verify eligibility and authenticity of documents
• Schedule and deliver examinations and training
• Protect exam integrity and investigate suspected misconduct
• Calculate rankings, manage tie-breaks, and publish permitted results
• Issue certificates or confirmations where applicable
• Meet security, audit, legal, and regulatory obligations
• Improve service reliability and prevent fraud or abuse
4. LEGAL BASES
We rely on one or more of: performance of a contract (providing Challenge participation), compliance with legal obligations, and legitimate interests in running a secure national skills Challenge — balanced against your rights. Where consent is required (for example certain optional communications), we will ask for it and you may withdraw it without affecting processing that must continue for the Challenge.
5. SHARING
We may share data with:
• Service providers who host infrastructure, send messages, store files, or support operations under contract
• Partner organisations involved in the Challenge where needed for verification, oversight, or published programme purposes
• Professional advisers, auditors, or authorities where required by law or to protect rights and safety
We do not sell your personal data.
6. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS
If systems or processors store data outside Nigeria, we take steps consistent with NDPA requirements for cross-border transfers.
7. RETENTION
We keep personal data only as long as needed for Challenge administration, dispute handling, legal retention, and security. Document files, exam evidence, and audit logs may be retained for defined periods set in our retention schedule, then deleted or anonymised where feasible.
8. YOUR RIGHTS
Subject to NDPA and applicable exceptions, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or data portability, and you may lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. Some requests may be limited where data must be kept for integrity, legal, or Challenge-administration reasons.
9. SECURITY
We use administrative and technical measures appropriate to the sensitivity of Challenge data, including access controls and monitoring. No online system is perfectly secure; please protect your credentials.
10. CHILDREN
The Challenge is intended for eligible adult drivers meeting published age and licence rules. We do not knowingly register ineligible minors.
11. UPDATES
We may update this Notice when our practices or the law change. The version shown at acceptance is the version you agree to. Continued use after a published update constitutes notice of the change for portal users.
